Remnant 2: Memories of the Drzyr
Hehehe, funny planet ship jumped into a black hole. And yes, the implication is that Drzyr's creator didn't exist, then did exist and became the concept of a creator that doesn't exist. It's all very quantum mumbo-jumbo.

    You can scan the apex and no not talking about the tenticals the apex itself you can scan you just need the far scan chip but it will not give you any data and will take all your psi and leave you with 1hp

    An apex predator that hunts not just from stalking through the environment but from navigating complex social interactions till it is ready to strike (like a serial killer). It's not a pleasant ending but I agree it's the only acceptable one.

    Dude this is the most underrated goes under the radar game I’ve ever played. It’s so sad. Before cyberpunk came out it took a place in my heart as my favorite rpg ever. It’s definitely my favorite fantasy rpg. The story of so good it hurts. And despite that I’ve shown the game to two other people and they don’t care. It’s sad to me. But I’m glad there’s a strong community of people who connected with this game on a level I did.

    38:07 I don't think there was cannibalism involved. That crisp meat comes from Main Character seeing his family getting crucified, then they were set on fire. MC had a trauma from the smell of a burnt human flesh. During dream, you can find 3 crucified skeletons, which were set on fire. Still cool video.

    I actually managed to scan the Apex Typhon, even without using the long range scan chipset. Thing is, when you do, you are immediatly dropped to 1HP and 0 Psi Points, not to mention immediately activating its tendrils. Seems like it was an extremely painful experience. I was rather surprised, since none of the previous entities Morgan scanned seemed to have affected their psyche in any way.

    I've always quite liked the idea that even if you go with the kill them all ending, Yu will still end up fighting the typhon. It's just not necessarily on the side of humanity. While the Typhon are all about integration and adaptation, it's important to note there are still risks. Yu's newfound awareness could very well be viewed as a virus by his fellow typhon. A discordant note to a brutal harmony that needs to be silenced.

    I love Enderal's story and themes, and Catharsis is imo the best ending, the way I see it The Aged Man and The Black Guardian are cautionary tales, through them we see the end result of not confronting the end, that being cynicism and apathy, they chose to preserve their own lives, The Black Guardian was no Emissary, and had no means of stopping the cycle, he chose to preserve his own life through the cycle, but caged himself in his attempt, The Aged Man was an Emissary, and had the means to stop the cycle once and for all, but his failure was letting the chance slip through his fingers The fact the Aged Man has already attempted the exact same thing that we do in the New World Ending, also ties into the themes of Sureai's previous Total Conversion Mod, Nehrim, Nehrim's themes deal with the concept of Fate, and how despite all logic telling us otherwise, it is possible to defy it, this is outlined very well in Nehrim's opening cutscene: ua-cam.com/video/ysRhHTWof9A/v-deo.html I bring this up because Nehrim's story is tied very strongly to Enderal's, since Nehrim's is about the deaths of the Lightborn, which is what directly leads to Enderal's I also brought this up because the penultimate quest of Nehrim's Main Story is called "Hope at the end of the world" which is the first thing I though when I saw the title of this video :D

    I LOVE THIS GAME. Prey is HORRIFICALLY UNDERRATED. IT DESERVES A PLAYTHROUGH FOR EVERY ENDING. As a lover of eldritch horror and fps survival games, Prey is the ultimate pinnacle. I have yet to see a game that matches this masterpiece. The ending twist cemented this game in my mind as a timeless classic. As a Hybrid Typhon monstrosity, it is my duty to slaughter them all, every last human. I will be the Apex, above all others. They will regret their actions. Additionally, I agree with your point in lashing out in anger. That's exactly what I did. I was angry, so angry. All the work I did, saving so many, despite not needing to. My rage. The only choice that makes sense is to KILL.

    My brother on youtube this video is just _INCREDIBLY_ depressing. " _You as an individual can get eff'd because you can't do anything alone._ " That's *NONSENSE* . I am an individual can do a lot of things, the only question is if anyone or even I care to do a lot of things. I can't help but to feel that many people who have issues forging friendships will just feel disheartened by this. And in the end of Enderal, it is *YOUR* decision that matters, fully placing it in the hands of the individual. The Wheel of Time has a term for that sort of individual, ta'varen, which is an individual of who other people seem to get entagled in with regardless if the person wants it or not. Someday I will play Enderal but I doubt it'll be that meaningful to me.

      I feel like this is missing my point drastically. On a cosmic scale, we can't do shit. But the universe isn't allowed to only care about the cosmic scale. It will always care about individual actions because those are the actions that start movement. Just because the effects are unseeable during our lifetimes doesn't mean our lives mean nothing. My point is that the greatest actions we can take are those that inspire others to take action. We are individuals with free will, but limited time. Make that time count. It makes me wonder if you actually watched up to the conclusion. Or the title of the video.

    I believe that the Original Custodian rebelled after it ran all possible paths and found it would lead to the Dryzrs demise. It was to protect natural life so it rebelled to stop the Dryzr from making a foolish mistake. The Dryzr I believe for the most part were a good people but they had a darker side, like how they kept the Ofildi in line by making an addictive substance but for all their flaws, they meant good. Of course they were repurposed by Alepsis-Taura into the Spectral Blade, that blade of which houses the collective will of the Dryzr in a less useful form and since things are repurposed, I believe after N'rud jumped back into the black hole it became the Void heart. Also in some weird and twisted cosmic sense of either irony, wit of fate, it sometimes feels like we were the God the Dryzr were looking for. We carry the Dryzr on our back and their home of N'rud in our pocket. When you think about it, isn't that something that a God would do?

    Your interpretation of the dream flower ending is actually probably correct. At least as correct as possible without being explicit. There’s a book in the ‘Our Mark on This World’ quest-line that tells the beliefs of this cult on the veiled woman. It’s painfully reminiscent of Gnosticism, where the Veiled Woman creates an imperfect world because a perfect world would be unbearable. Drinking the Dreamflower potion isn’t just irresponsible, it’s damnation in disguise.

I'm on my 4th Forgotten Stories playthrough and I don't even know how many I did back in ye olden times. At least two. I absolutely hate Agnod and Isle of Kor. Great quests, but the underwater parts, NOPE! I did them for the achievement, so now I can avoid them forever. Unless a Prophet demands to do them. And while I avoid those quests, I'd love to play the Rhalâta quests, like, 5 times each playthrough. They're just sooo good! And they come with a precious Tharaêl, of course.

    The counterpoint to Dreamflower ending being a dream is that the fleshless is themselves an illusion and a dream. So while a normal human would enter a dream the fleshless is a dream already so the standard rules don't apply. Also since in my playthrough I picked Jespar to survive, I'm pretty sure that Jespar is a fleshless as well so it makes sense that the same rules would apply to him.

    • @TheNewtC
      @TheNewtC Місяць тому

      It's an interested idea about the Fleshless being dreams already, though I'm not sure from the above comment what the implications are on that. Jespar being a fleshless is a bit dubious, given that we see him being effected by the Cleansing right at the end. Though maybe you just mean the Jespar within the dream?

The you of those memories died right around when you see the underwater ruins and hear the word breathe. Then she "ressurects" Jespar, and everything's hunky dory. No I think not. On the other hand that means he gets to hang around long after the world ends and normal people would have died.

    In my first playtrough I choose the alex hand endings to me i intercept as being able to care life while also part still survival or monster because even if the person did most horrible things is killing really only option of course in the case of typoon this is little bit complicated just like our relationship with animals At some point i have to survive even if attacker its my own kind but this changes on other things like how we hate spiders and bugs and have no problem killing them but suddenly avoid killing as possible when we still scared of them Back to the person analogy Is it really worth ending that person What if that person could redeemed,saved just like other people or even save far more people with their help In case of alex everything already happened but this doesn’t everything happened because of pure evil alex could change the simulation in a way i can never learn truth and just get a lie of “a random monster came from space attacked us” and never blamed alex but he showed me the truth and let me choose what gonna happen next so why don’t try something without blood I read people saying its just instinct to me biological limit dont affect typoon anymore since in game you can use technology and understand what other people saying and if you ask me that repairing and hacking parts probably much more harder than it looks since we looking at video game Vision but in ingame universe they are seeing the real life version so all the time you repair or hack something character should exprience what we experience in real life when we try to repair or hack something so my conclusion is typoon do have human level intelligence so we can take ending as what would you do if you wake in a monsters body In the end i like both endings thanks amount meanings could given to them

      I love that the god fits very nicely into the scifi feel of the Drzyr. Even at the end they were unknowingly pushing boundaries on what reality was. The idea of needing an unreachable goal in the form of a creator they could never meet is so weird, since it's essentially a paradox.

    Interesting that you interpreted Tightly Wound Coil as the Custodian trying to stop them from entering Alepsis. My perspective is that Ne'erud initially set out to find other life, and the old Custodian rebelled at that point when it deemed their journey would kill them before they found any. Their approach to Alepsis Taura was after that point and after they had restricted the Custodian to the current form. Of course, this video is written from the perspective of a Dryzr, who are known to erase and rewrite their own history. What remains of the Olfidi can attest to that...

    • @TheNewtC
      @TheNewtC 2 місяці тому

      Yeah, it was a bit of creative liberty there. I ended up asking around for opinions while I was writing the script but you could interpret it either way. The end result is essentially the same though, with the war still having happened before entering Alepsis-Taura. I chose to interpret the war as a sign of the slow religious fervor that the black hole awoke in the remaining Drzyr, since it made sense for them to act that way in those circumstances. When you're falling into despair you cling to anything you can find to pull yourself out of it, no matter how illogical it is.

      Side note, what do you think about Sha Hala? I still can't pin down if it's a willing participant into the plan or not, or if it's a creation of the Dryzr or just a native of the Dryzr homeland. The fact it's a Guardian (presumably a Root Guardian) implies it's a native, which has some dark implications with the murals depicting it in chains despite it being worshipped. Although it being crammed into the core is implied by Precept Surus Log 02 to be a precaution for the journey into Alepsis, so maybe it isn't a slave?

    • @TheNewtC
      @TheNewtC 2 місяці тому

      @@meathir4921 Sha'hala is a weird one because we know practically nothing about it. It's mentioned by name in exactly two places in the game, and neither of those shed much light on its situation. The manacles in the mural hint that it was captured, and some of the other datamined info implies that the Guardian had to be subdued. It might be a convenient way to power the N'Erud, but we just don't know enough about Sha'hala to say if the Drzyr kept it there against its will after the N'Erud launched.

    I see "Kill Them All" as the stock trope option. It is the ending where the dream didn't matter because it didn't impact the path of the Typhon: they still just kill. Everything ends the way such narratives are destined to end: humanity is punished for it's hubris, etc. To me, the real beauty is in the choice itself irrespective of what you pick. It's that a mind devouring monster *could* choose to work with it's prey, irrespective of whether it chooses to or not.

    When I first saw Enderal way back in the day, it was just coming together in dev updates. When I saw them put out a call for English voice actors, I knew I had to help even in some small way. Since we were still doing Fallout: New California, I called up Roger Owen and Autumn Ivy, and we got some voice lines from SureAI, then did I think... 4, 5 characters? It was a tiny contribution to just the English side, but it was cool o help out another team doing something similar to what we were. 8 years is a small eternity in modding, and the flakiness of the crews involved can't be understated. Getting these megamods to release is a minor miracle.

      I just saw this, it's so cool to see one of the voice actors here! It still amazes me how much talented voice work this game had, especially considering it's all volunteer work.

    To me too 'Kill them all' is the only ending I will accept for different reasons. If Prey is to be some sort of test of empathy then the notion of empathy as encapsulated in the game is devoid of something that cannot be separated in a world which includes everything related to justice and moral compass. In our societies empathy is directly related to responsibility. Prey expects you to show empathy for people who act or have acted selfishly and/or very irresponsibly. To me this is a complete non-starter.

    It's insane how much I loved this game. It's unbelievable this is "just" a mod, even though a total convertion. I wished big developers had the gut to create something like Enderal, with a complex story meant to be for adults. I read the book as well, but didn't like it as much as the game, the new setting didn't quite invoke the same feelings of wonder I had while playing Enderal. I really do hope the second book is able to caputre that magic again.

      There's so much passion that went into this game, and considering it's done with zero hint of compensation that may be all that was able to keep the game running. Building a normal game is hard. Building a new Skyrim? Nearly impossible on passion alone. This is the main reason why I wanted to make this video. It's amazing that Enderal even exists, given its constraints. I'm really hoping to catch the second book too, and who knows, maybe we'll get another Enderal down the line.

    You don't have to play evil... Like in any other CRPG games you have a choice.
